  2. Hello Jessica!
I enjoyed watching your blog. We have several things in common. I as well would love to get my certification in bilingual. Or get an ESL certification because some students are put in a classroom without knowing the language, causing a language barrier. As a bilingual person it frustrates me that some kids are not getting the help they need. I am very fortunate to have had my parents speaking to only Spanish at home. I like what you said in your video that being bilingual does not mean to only speak English and Spanish. I understand that your siblings might want to speak English rather than Spanish. I also have a young cousin that does not want to speak Spanish. As if he continues to stop speaking Spanish he won’t be able communicate with the rest of the family. As he will forget, and he will not expand his vocabulary. In the book Wright (2015) mentions that students who were ELL were assigned to an ESL class. Which is great for the students to learn English. Even though sometimes teachers are not able to help students due to language barrier.

  3. Hello Jessica, I really enjoyed your video blog. I am also going to be getting my certification in Bilingual or an ESL certification, which ever I can do first. My parents also had a language barrier when they first came in the United States from El Salvador. It’s good that your teachers new your background to help you understand and grasp the English language. According to the text, “Teachers also need to know their students’ cultural backgrounds and how culture influences learning at school (Wright 2015, pg. 17).” I love your teaching philosophy because students need to have mistakes in order to review what they need to overcome. I know that you will be a great teacher in the future because it’s not for everyone.
